It's virtually impossible to have a passion for makeup without understanding the importance of skincare. If there's anything I'll shamelessly splurge on in life outside of makeup, it's a new product for my skincare regime. I have my fair share of holy grail and irreplaceable products I use in my skincare routine but that doesn't stop me from occasionally trying new things. I recently tried out the Korres Golden Krocus Ageless Saffron Elixir, and the results I've seen in just a short period of time have had me wondering where this has been my whole life.
This product is described as a "precious golden elixir infused with the immense antioxidant power of one-day fresh Greek saffron to universally correct all visible signs of aging." It's meant to help with fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, discoloration, loss of firmness/elasticity, and appearance of pores. It's suitable for all skin types and can be used night and day as a serum, or as a booster before another favorite serum and moisturizer. The saffron used in this elixir come from krocus flowers in the Greek town of Konazi, and only bloom once a year for two weeks. It takes 70,000 krocus flowers to make one just one pound of Greek saffron. Korres hand-picks the flowers and the red saffron stigmas are hand-separated to preserve it's antioxidant properties. Knowing that bit of background alone makes this product feel lush and luxurious. It's also good to know that Korres is also a no-waste brand, meaning they take all unused parts of their ingredients and return them to soil, using them as fertilizer for the next year's harvest. All of their products are made without petrolatum, mineral oil, silicones, propylene glycol, and ethanolamines.
Even after a singular use, I saw a drastic positive difference in the state of my skin. My first use was at night, using it as a serum. I usually have problems with redness in my skin as well as enlarged pores after a night's sleep. But I woke up with my skin looking more even-toned and pores appearing blurred, my moisturizer even seemed to have absorbed into my skin more efficiently.
I've grown to love Korres as a brand altogether, enough that I'd dare to claim it as my favorite skincare brand, but I'd been holding off on this product because of the price. While it is pricey, I'd genuinely say it's worth the splurge. It's a thin consistency that spreads across the skin easily, drying down quickly making it easy to move on to the next steps in your routine. When it dries, it does have a slightly sticky texture but that quickly goes away as you move on to finish your skincare regime. Something I've heard a lot of people complain about is the scent, which admittedly is quite strong. But it is a natural scent rather than added fragrance, so I can't be bothered by it. Not to mention I actually find the scent to be quite soothing and relaxing, and I don't notice it linger for too long.
As always and as expected from Korres, the packaging is gorgeous. The bottle is a gorgeous gold, adding to the luxurious overall vibe of the product. It's also suitable for the product it's self as the elixir has so much radiance and glow to it. It's dispensed by a dropper—that you would typically see for a serum product—making it easy to get just the right amount whether you're dropping a bit of product onto your fingertips to massage into your skin or applying it directly onto the face.

In all I've only been using this product for about two weeks, but the changes I've seen in my skin are astounding. I can confidently say I've had my nighttime routine on lock for a while now, but haven't quite found that holy grail morning serum—at least, until now. Over the past two weeks I've noticed more flawless application of my makeup as well as appearance of my makeup throughout the day. I was starting to have problems with creasing of my smile-lines, but since using this elixir the creasing I was experiencing have been significantly reduced. My skin's been smoother, firmer, more glowy and radiant. But my favorite benefit from using this product has got to me the fact that my redness has been reduced so much to the point that I'm wearing less and less as far as complexion makeup goes, and using less coverage. Even at work and in social settings! Though I'm someone that's totally comfortable in my natural skin and appearance, it's always nice to just look more polished with an even complexion when out in public. So being someone that does tend to deal with a noticeable amount of discoloration of sorts, a base of some type always seemed necessary to feel more put together. As of lately, since using the Golden Krocus Elixir, I've gone out in public and to work without wearing a complexion base at all but have still been asked what foundation I use to look so smoothed and "flawless"!
Everyone's skin is different, and just because I'm head over heals for this product does not mean that everyone will be. I'm not saying that you need to run out immediately and drop the almost $100 price tag of this product. But I am saying that if you have the money to splurge and want to try a worth-it product that might change your skin in all the best ways, this is a good one to start looking at. Or head to your local retailer of Korres and grab a sample. It's absolutely worth a try, and you might end up loving it as much as I do! 10/10, Korres. I'll definitely be repurchasing this again and again.
